I-L-L-
Last week, I visited University of Illinois for the School of Music Fall Open House. I've been on campus quite a few times now, and it felt great to be back. It's beautiful there, and there are lots of good opportunities for picture-taking.
This photo uses an overhead angle and leading lines so that the only thing in the frame is the tabletop and a bit of the wallpaper in the background, keeping the antique look the focus.
Location: Illini Union Hotel, Urbana-Champaign
Time: night
Techniques: overhead angle, leading lines
For this photo, I used exposure to darken the image and bring out the shape of the light bulb to let it stand out against everything else.

I used symmetry in this photo and put the focus on the finial so that it looks bigger than it actually is.

This photo uses lighting (the sunlight peeking around the column on the far left) and the rule of thirds to emphasize the "no bicycles" sign in the foreground and the bicycle sitting right there on the other side of the photo.
Location: Krannert Center for the Arts, Urbana-Champaign
Time: midday
Techniques: rule of thirds, lighting
I used leading lines which lead the eye to the closest detail on the right side in this photo of a railing between stairways.
Location: Smith Memorial Hall, Urbana-Champaign
Time: early afternoon
Technique: leading lines
Exposure and a diagonal, upward angle were used for this photo, putting the focus on the detail of the chandelier which seems to defy gravity by hanging at a crooked angle, or so it seems (and the ceiling also uses many shapes).
Location: Smith Memorial Hall, Urbana-Champaign
Time: early afternoon
Techniques: diagonal angle, exposure
This photo uses the rule of thirds for the placement of various items within the shot, but there is not necessarily one single subject; rather, the scene as a whole is the subject.
